Voices of Ancient Egypt is a book for kids. The left page is filled with a water painting portraying the person who is described on the right page. It tells about different occupations in ancient Egypt, and how life might be like a person of that trade. In the back, it goes into more history of ancient Egypt, and more in depth about each job.I like it because it's full of information, and is written in a way to help kids understand the jobs and lives of people long ago.

Perfect book for our study of Ancient Egypt!

We liked the book a lot. It's read in 5 minutes or less, but still great pictures and beautiful book.

Gorgeous watercolor illustrations of workers busy at work accompany text in prose style in this non-fiction picture book for children. The writing is eloquent and is a fresh change from the usual content of most history books. Using first-person narrative, the worker tells what their job is like. Some examples of the vocations covered are launderer, scribe, farmer, pyramid-builder, embalmer, and dancer.There are two pages of background information about the 13 vocations, and a list of source materials at the back that is helpful for locating more resources to use when learning about life in Ancient Egypt.I can't say enough about the beautiful illustrations by Barry Moser. The cover's illustration is exactly the type of high-quality work that lies inside the book. The background paper for the entire book looks similar to papyrus. A wonderful book! I hope that National Geographic makes this one in a series and that future book have equally high quality writing and illustrations.

This book is good but the illustrations are very inaccurate. Egyptians did not have pale skin nor did their hair look the way it does in the pictures. If you buy this book please look up how they actually look to show your children.

I love the songs in this book. The notes are not on a staff, but in simplistic form with the note name printed on the note head. The position is shown in an illustrated drawing. These are much longer songs than anything the students have done in their lesson books, to this point, however, and I would not recommend using it unless you have a very talented student who needs a bit more challenge (yet still needs some time for their fingers to grow), or at the end of level one at the soonest.The songs are traditional, standard kids' church songs including Jesus Loves Me, and This Little Light of Mine. Most songs are two pages long, about four to five lines. There is a story line and teacher duet / accompaniment as well.My daughter is 7 years old, and using the level 2 Mozart books. She is the type of learner that does best with going slowly and passing a ton of pages as opposed to being assigned one or two challenging songs (even though she could do them, this shuts her down.) When she first started "This Little Light" it was a bit intimidating to her, and it took her a bit to get comfortable with doing that long of a piece.So my advice - know your student's learning style. These are wonderful if your child knows where the notes are in middle C position and are beginning to show some independence in their playing, but may be a bit intimidating at first for some.

In Alfred's Little Mozarts series, Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear help Clara Schumann-Cat choose music for the children's choir to sing in church. These are nice arrangements of popular sacred tunes that can be played in middle-C position. If you want your students to be able to play the songs in other keys, color in the quarter notes, white-out the half and wholes notes, and write in the solfege syllables above the notes. Glad that Amazon keeps these in stock. My wife and I run a Music Academy and buy all our books from Amazon. When we pick up a new student, I can get their book here in less than two days and have it ready for their next lesson. Music for Little Mozarts is a fun series for beginning students. We have bought the little stuffed animals to go with it and our students love it!

My daughter started piano in the Little Mozart series this past summer. It is so easy to work with her on her lessons and it introduces concepts in a fun way with the main characters so she can understand. Goes a bit slow so it is definitely for young piano students, but it is a great place to start for a first or second grader who is anxious to learn. The "Go To Church" book is teaching her songs that she is familiar with such as "This Little Light of Mine" and "Jesus Loves Me". She gets such joy out of being able to play a song for us!

This little book contains great Sunday school songs that a young student can master easily. If you're child/student has completed Book 1 and is currently in Book 2, this music would be perfect for them to play. The only reason I did not give it five stars was because the notes are shown without a staff. This is done to make it simpler for young children, but my 5 year old would be perfectly fine with the staff. I made a photocopy of the book and drew the staff lines with a ruler.

I bought this piano book after my daughter finished book 1, but it was too difficult to start with. I know she will grow into it, but I had hoped she would be able to play the first few pieces since it was labeled 1&2.

Little Mozarts has been a great curriculum for my kindergartener to begin learning to play this year!

We got this for my daughter and it was not good at all. The teaching little fingers to play series is much better.

So I decided to start at the beginning and bought the whole origins series package just finished it and the next book in line.Believe me when I tell you it grows on you.It sinks into you so you can't wait to read the next one in line.My only worry is that I will eventually catch up and then I will have to wait for the next one to spawn.lol.Dinos, war, space, colonization and empire building... Like the add for prego sauce. ...... " it's in there".

The series will start with a single training class of leaders, with the guidance of the head trainer and director. The first books are the slowest, but most defining of the concepts that will ring true for the series. What will keep an empire that will eventually span hundreds of systems, trillions of people, and aliens from internally collapsing into the darkness when challenged? What really makes the trailblazers the leaders that shape Star Force? Rome wasn't built in a day, it's the same with Star Force. To build the empire, you need training. Lots and lots of quality training with some good friends. The adventure will be well worth reading.

From the time I started reading this book, I was enthralled. The story telling is phenomenal and I loved the characters as well as the world they live in. Even being a fictional story, it's still believable in itself and I am excited to read more. Thank you for sharing.

if you are a geologist there are some things you are going to have to let slide, but other than that it is a good read with an interesting premise. the first four books are about the training of a military force designed to protect humanity from a force that abandoned earth 100,000 years ago. while you might think a tale about boot camp is boring you would be wrong. solid physics and interesting ideas about the physical limits you can reach as a soldier keep you interested as they train to become a force outside of government to face a force humanity can't beat. reminiscent of starship trooper, Heinlein's book, not the movie.

This is a great book series the forthought that went into it is astounding the author isn't so much as writing a book as wrighting prologue or a first chapter I think its a bit of a mix really theres not a whole lot of actions in the first few but it picks up in a way that is truly cool books but if your looking for a Empire building series thats still being developed you need to read this

Very well written. Keeps you engaged. Extremely realistic as far as human behaviour as well as technological advancement. And the fact that there is already so much published d will keep me in reading material for a while! 😉

The concept is interesting but the book got bogged down in the details of buildings, spaceports and training.I understand the concepts of teaching the trainees to think and work together.At this speed, this series could outlive me.

Good focus on the plot but after that main character development he disappears into the team and the story, for me, lost direction. It came back together as the story wound down and I will continue the read to find out what develops.

the book are great only wish that the book had each problem step by step work out on answer key for the parent to show the student

Otherwise that it is math she likes it.. so i like it too. good quality: readable, paperquality and colors are all good. the content is also apropriate, not too childish but not too serious too. so for me it is 5 star: I got what i wanted.
