This is the perfect book for reloaders operating in the 1950s and 1960s. It is not at all good for those of us inhabiting 2017.The book is chock full of information about military loads, mercury primers, tracer rounds and many more things that dropped out of wide circulation 20 or 30 years ago. Normally, I'd just "read around" the outdated things to pick up the wisdom... however, there's nothing in this book that is not also available in the front section of Sierri, Hornady, Berger, data books - which you will have to have anyway. Therefore, skip this one.

I am a 60-year-old newbie to reloading. Been shooting for over 50 years, but until recently never enough to justify reloading.This book is not simply a how-to manual. Be advised the "how-to" material is several chapters in. The author starts off with a very informative discourse on cartridges and their components. Each component has an individual chapter. The author emphasizes safety and specifies some things not to do before getting into the "how-to" information which is solid.I had previously read Richard Lee's Modern Reloading with its "how-to's" and wanted to get another author's viewpoint. The ABC's was recommended by an on-line reloading forum. I was at first a bit taken aback with the author's approach as it was not what I was expecting.After loading several hundred 9mm rounds and reading the ABC's a second time I can say the book is a must. As a newbie, I did not know what I needed to know. I thought I wanted more "how-to." What I needed was more understanding of the why's and wherefores of the process. That understanding has increased exponentially over the basic "do this, don't do that" approach. I will be a better and safer re-loader as I branch out into more handgun and rifle cartridges.

If you are looking for a book to read straight through, or one you can take with you on the bus to flip through, this is not the book for you. I am new to reloading, and as such, i'm looking to gain any knowledge I can both while I'm reloading, and while I have that down time away from the gunpowder. This book does offer a lot of valuable information, is a great resource for safety procedures and proper handling of the various parts of a bullet. For me, this book has answered many questions, introduced questions I'd never thought of, and in turn, given me more questions (many of which are not covered within...). For starters, this book is very much targeted to the typical reloader~ the guy with a shed or garage with a full workbench dedicated to this hobby. It does not take into account, or offer a lot of info, for those of us who use portable reloading tools & instruments (such as the Lee line of hand loaders).When all is said and done, I am glad this book is in my collection, although at the moment it offers precious little for my personal needs. Perhaps when I am capable of creating a full workstation, then it will be better suited to my needs.I am actually quite glad I have it at the moment simply for the safety info, and random tidbits from here and there.As far as recommending this book, I'm in no position to say who would truly benefit from it, but the guys at several of the large name retailers around here were quick to push it my way.

I bet my friends wish I bought this first.I was very frustrated with the handbook that came with my press. That was 90% data tables and 10% instructions. This book fills in all the missing gaps of what's needed to reload. Use this book for the instructions and the data tables from the reloading handbook.I'd debated between Kindle & paperback and finally decided on paperbook. I was a little surprised that all pictures are black & white not color. I'm still somewhat glad I ordered the paperback version as its useful to be able to look at the diagrams while reading the descriptive text, something that would difficult on a small screen Kindle.Others have complained about the old hand drawings but while I admit a photograph would be nice in some instances I frequently prefered the simple hand drawings as they included only the details needed rather than an overly detailed photograph where I wouldn't be sure what to look at.The paper is very cheap, like a cross between regular paper and newsprint, but it is also very large and easy to see the details of the illustrations. I guess that helps keep the costs down. The book is also large enough to lay down and have it stay open so I can reference the book while working with my hands. I think they made a smart decision to go with the cheap and large format.I liked that its not manufacturer specific like the handbook that came with my reloading press so it doesn't try to sell you a prticular brand of equipment but it occasionally calls out specific manufacturers of products while I like so I can actually find the stuff.

Another book mislabeled, It should have been titled the history of reloading. I understand educational books need some history, but reloading, and that's the majority of the book. I bought this book because I am interested in reloading. I thought that it may have some consumer guides or product reviews, and all of the tried and true hot loads. But I never found what I was looking for. The actual print quality was poor and the photographs and sketches were even worse. The writer's style was very dull. So you see where I'm going here. I almost went with Patrick Sweeney Reloading for Handgunners, but I was looking primarily into rifles loads, never the less had I gone that route I know that book would have been informative and interesting. Next Time.

This is an absolutely wonderful book. The text is fresh and "sassy" and the beautiful acrylic paintings are vibrant and joyful. "Where the big velvet roses bloom red and pink and fuchsia, where the accordion plays sassy and sweet, where the smell of crispy tacos or buttery tortillas or juicy fruta floats out of every window, and where the paleta wagon rings its tinkly bell and carries a treasure of icy paletas in every color of the sarape...That's my barrio!" A delightful double spread shows the paleta wagon filled with popsicles of every imaginable color, and three eager children rushing to choose a flavor. Read this book aloud; and children and adults alike will remember their cool "paletas" with pleasure.

This is one of my 4 yr old grandson's favorite books, I can read it to him over and over again and he doesn't tire of hearing it. The illustrations are beautiful and bright, and the written content is easy for any child to follow. A great way to learn Spanish, or English, as it is bi-lingual. The book inspires you to want to go out and get a "paleta" (popsicle), especially on a warm day. Definitely a fun book to have.

It was what I expected, my granddaughter, age 6, thought it was great to help her learn Spanish. Loved the story.

Great book with beautiful illustrations. My two year old loves this book. There is one page that I skip, though, I know it may seem uptight but I'm trying to teach my kiddos to be great people so I skip the page where her uncle wins a baseball game by offering the batter a popsicle to distract him so her uncle wins the game (cheating). I know, I know... a lot of you will roll your eyes but that's me and that's how I'm raising my kids! With that tiny exception I love this book.

This colorful picture book brought smiles to my grandchildrens faces, ages 3, 4, 6 and 10. With the book written in both english and spanish it allowed me to read it to my grandchildren in both languages, assisting me in the continued teaching of the spanish language. The demand in learning the spanish language is increasing Tafolla and Morales did a wonderful job at covering the a small portion of what happens in a barrio in both languages. I know a great book when I read it and put it down and my grand children pick it up to read it again and again. They asked questions, participated, learned and discussed, happily being rewarded with a paleta.

Everyone has heard about the ice-cream truck. But this book introduces the paleta (popsicle treat) sold by wagon vendors in Latino neighborhoods. Coming from south Texas, I have had a few paletas myself. But for someone who isn't familiar with the Latino culture, this book brings a fun insight that children and adults can enjoy reading about. The colorful and creative artwork shows how you can lick, slurp, and gobble down paletas of all different flavors and colors on a hot summer day. The English text introduces readers to some easy Spanish words. Children will love this juicy treat of a book, and will probably want a popsicle or paleta after reading it.

Voices of Ancient Egypt is a book for kids. The left page is filled with a water painting portraying the person who is described on the right page. It tells about different occupations in ancient Egypt, and how life might be like a person of that trade. In the back, it goes into more history of ancient Egypt, and more in depth about each job.I like it because it's full of information, and is written in a way to help kids understand the jobs and lives of people long ago.

Perfect book for our study of Ancient Egypt!

We liked the book a lot. It's read in 5 minutes or less, but still great pictures and beautiful book.

Gorgeous watercolor illustrations of workers busy at work accompany text in prose style in this non-fiction picture book for children. The writing is eloquent and is a fresh change from the usual content of most history books. Using first-person narrative, the worker tells what their job is like. Some examples of the vocations covered are launderer, scribe, farmer, pyramid-builder, embalmer, and dancer.There are two pages of background information about the 13 vocations, and a list of source materials at the back that is helpful for locating more resources to use when learning about life in Ancient Egypt.I can't say enough about the beautiful illustrations by Barry Moser. The cover's illustration is exactly the type of high-quality work that lies inside the book. The background paper for the entire book looks similar to papyrus. A wonderful book! I hope that National Geographic makes this one in a series and that future book have equally high quality writing and illustrations.

This book is good but the illustrations are very inaccurate. Egyptians did not have pale skin nor did their hair look the way it does in the pictures. If you buy this book please look up how they actually look to show your children.

I love the songs in this book. The notes are not on a staff, but in simplistic form with the note name printed on the note head. The position is shown in an illustrated drawing. These are much longer songs than anything the students have done in their lesson books, to this point, however, and I would not recommend using it unless you have a very talented student who needs a bit more challenge (yet still needs some time for their fingers to grow), or at the end of level one at the soonest.The songs are traditional, standard kids' church songs including Jesus Loves Me, and This Little Light of Mine. Most songs are two pages long, about four to five lines. There is a story line and teacher duet / accompaniment as well.My daughter is 7 years old, and using the level 2 Mozart books. She is the type of learner that does best with going slowly and passing a ton of pages as opposed to being assigned one or two challenging songs (even though she could do them, this shuts her down.) When she first started "This Little Light" it was a bit intimidating to her, and it took her a bit to get comfortable with doing that long of a piece.So my advice - know your student's learning style. These are wonderful if your child knows where the notes are in middle C position and are beginning to show some independence in their playing, but may be a bit intimidating at first for some.

In Alfred's Little Mozarts series, Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear help Clara Schumann-Cat choose music for the children's choir to sing in church. These are nice arrangements of popular sacred tunes that can be played in middle-C position. If you want your students to be able to play the songs in other keys, color in the quarter notes, white-out the half and wholes notes, and write in the solfege syllables above the notes. When we pick up a new student, I can get their book here in less than two days and have it ready for their next lesson. Music for Little Mozarts is a fun series for beginning students. We have bought the little stuffed animals to go with it and our students love it!

My daughter started piano in the Little Mozart series this past summer. It is so easy to work with her on her lessons and it introduces concepts in a fun way with the main characters so she can understand. Goes a bit slow so it is definitely for young piano students, but it is a great place to start for a first or second grader who is anxious to learn. The "Go To Church" book is teaching her songs that she is familiar with such as "This Little Light of Mine" and "Jesus Loves Me". She gets such joy out of being able to play a song for us!

This little book contains great Sunday school songs that a young student can master easily. If you're child/student has completed Book 1 and is currently in Book 2, this music would be perfect for them to play. The only reason I did not give it five stars was because the notes are shown without a staff. This is done to make it simpler for young children, but my 5 year old would be perfectly fine with the staff. I made a photocopy of the book and drew the staff lines with a ruler.

I bought this piano book after my daughter finished book 1, but it was too difficult to start with. I know she will grow into it, but I had hoped she would be able to play the first few pieces since it was labeled 1&2.

Little Mozarts has been a great curriculum for my kindergartener to begin learning to play this year!

We got this for my daughter and it was not good at all. The teaching little fingers to play series is much better.

So I decided to start at the beginning and bought the whole origins series package just finished it and the next book in line.Believe me when I tell you it grows on you.It sinks into you so you can't wait to read the next one in line.My only worry is that I will eventually catch up and then I will have to wait for the next one to spawn.lol.Dinos, war, space, colonization and empire building... Like the add for prego sauce. ...... " it's in there".

The series will start with a single training class of leaders, with the guidance of the head trainer and director. The first books are the slowest, but most defining of the concepts that will ring true for the series. What will keep an empire that will eventually span hundreds of systems, trillions of people, and aliens from internally collapsing into the darkness when challenged? What really makes the trailblazers the leaders that shape Star Force? Rome wasn't built in a day, it's the same with Star Force. To build the empire, you need training. Lots and lots of quality training with some good friends. The adventure will be well worth reading.

From the time I started reading this book, I was enthralled. The story telling is phenomenal and I loved the characters as well as the world they live in. Even being a fictional story, it's still believable in itself and I am excited to read more. Thank you for sharing.

if you are a geologist there are some things you are going to have to let slide, but other than that it is a good read with an interesting premise. the first four books are about the training of a military force designed to protect humanity from a force that abandoned earth 100,000 years ago. while you might think a tale about boot camp is boring you would be wrong. solid physics and interesting ideas about the physical limits you can reach as a soldier keep you interested as they train to become a force outside of government to face a force humanity can't beat. reminiscent of starship trooper, Heinlein's book, not the movie.

This is a great book series the forthought that went into it is astounding the author isn't so much as writing a book as wrighting prologue or a first chapter I think its a bit of a mix really theres not a whole lot of actions in the first few but it picks up in a way that is truly cool books but if your looking for a Empire building series thats still being developed you need to read this

The concept is interesting but the book got bogged down in the details of buildings, spaceports and training.I understand the concepts of teaching the trainees to think and work together.At this speed, this series could outlive me.

Good focus on the plot but after that main character development he disappears into the team and the story, for me, lost direction. It came back together as the story wound down and I will continue the read to find out what develops.

the book are great only wish that the book had each problem step by step work out on answer key for the parent to show the student

Otherwise that it is math she likes it.. so i like it too. good quality: readable, paperquality and colors are all good. the content is also apropriate, not too childish but not too serious too. so for me it is 5 star: I got what i wanted.
