I wanted this book because I was passed down an oriental rug and wasn't sure what it was worth or how to appreciate why it was rumored worth that much. I would totally have this be my hobby now because this book was so interesting. If only I had more space to put rugs! This book told me everything I needed to know about Oriental Rugs and where my rug is from. I even understand the patterns now, what the colors mean, and how to maintain it. I estimated my rug's worth using the guide at the end of the book and without telling the expert my estimate, theirs was only about 20% off of mine! This book was really useful and I'll probably keep it as long as I keep the rug.

By far the best guide to oriental rugs, out of the 4 I have read. Very specific, practical, comprehensive information. The explanations are clear and spot-on. The section on bargaining is priceless. Even though it was published 30 years ago and the dollar numbers are outdated, that is unimportant compared to the value of this highly-qualified insider's knowledge. It is very nicely written, too.

Interesting book. Chapter on "profit sharing" worth the price of entry. Tells you how to negotiate the price of a rug. I have never seen anyone else even approach this topic in this way. Rest of the book pretty basic but certainly worth the $4.25 it will cost you including shipping.

While I own a few rugs from a previous trip to the Middle East courtesy of Uncle Sam, I wanted to better educate myself to place myself into a better bargaining position with the local merchants. I believe this book is an excellent resource and explains a great deal about the history, workmanship, and variety of Oriental carpets, but it also includes tips on how to shop (including haggling), how to pick rugs based on your home, and cleaning and care recommendations. The only downside is the age of the commentary since the market has changed, at least from what I see, since this book was written. Nevertheless, it is a great introduction to the fascinating and beautiful world of Oriental rugs.

The book is informative and information is thorough.I picked this book because of the sales person where I bought my rug recommended it.Although this was a used book it looks very new.I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get information about oriental rugs and informationon the process of making the rugs, where it was made, how it is to be cleaned, and much more.

There are so many rugs out there that are outrageously priced yet there are characteristics from the book that you can learn to distinguish them from machine woven ones from China with wool imported from New Zealand.

Simone was an ass the first time around..trying to impress his family, he forgot the first cardinal rule..never fall for the mark. But fall he did..and when it was done, it was done. Unfortunately his heart did receive the message. When he bumps into Eden years later, he finds his young man feelings are still there, only bigger. Eden sees Simone and she can’t believe her eyes. He betrayed her and her family threatened her and her dad..how could she possibly think of giving him another chance. She can’t dictate what her body says, but will she ever be able to trust him again..and when danger finds her..will they ever see their happily ever after?I’m new to this author, but I enjoyed the book. The 2 guys who worked at the store were a bit of a distraction, but otherwise, I liked the secondary characters. Wish we had more story on Linus and his vendetta to explain things. I do secretly wonder why Eden would get involved with the DeSerra clan as crazy as they are, but the heart knows what it knows. Simone has an evil streak that I’m sad to say, I thoroughly enjoyed. The lengths he would go to just for the family was one thing, what he did and was prepared to do for Eden was hot as hell.I want to know more about the DeSerra brothers and maybe even Smalls. Hopefully there is more where this came from.

I love reading who done it stories and this one did not disappoint. Eden Noble and Simone De Sera broke up years ago because of Simone's sketchy family business. Simone's relationship turned into something he was not expecting to happen. In the process, he broke Eden's heart. Years had past and they both moved on with their lives, or had they. They never really forgot about each other. With their unexpected meeting in Eden's Garden store, Simone was determined not to let her get away again despite the promises he made to his uncle, the Don of the family. Simone kept one crucial detail from Eden and turned out to be his undoing and threw Eden into the path of an unexpected and unknown enemy of her father.I just knew the ex wife had something to do with the predicament Eden was in. I was shocked to find out that it had nothing to do with the De Sera family. One never knows when an enemy will come back to bite you. But in this case, they found out that revenge is best served as a road paved straight to hell. Don't stand between a made man and the woman he loves and getting his HEA with her. You will lose every time. This was a good read.

I have read a few of her stories,this one was a good read with the up and downs. Running into each other after breaking up years ago.The story line wasn’t bad but Donnal as her go to when things got bumpy got on my nerves. He was crushing on her so playing that just making Simone jealous ☹️ Adult women don’t play games like that. The end rolled up on you fast one minute she is running for her life when she then gets rescued. Next they are in the church. The end.88% story over.

Simone DeSera part of the mafia family who was dating Eden Noble daughter of an FBI agent who was giving his family a hard time with their business. Simone and Eden had a platonic romance when they were young which resulted in Eden leaving him when they used her as a pawn against her father in order for him to turn his back on government information. Years later Simone is working for the governor office while still getting pet projects passed in order to help his family business with at times using a strong arm. They meet again and the chemistry is still there, however, he has an estranged wife Lynnette who is half nuts and a family who really doesn't believe in divorce. The godfather had promised Mr. Noble that his nephew would leave his daughter alone for helping them with getting rid of government information. There is a lot of family dynamics played in this story with some hostility again each other and some backstabbing.

Loved Eden, so happy her and Simone found each other again after so many years. Simone is from a mafia family. Several years ago Eden's father an FBI agent was digging in to Simone's family businesses. Eden was threatened by the family, Simone could not hurt her physically but he did hurt her mentally. This book has crazy ex-wife, kidnapping, attempted murder, and an overprotective Alpha..

I loved reading Simone and Eden's story. These men when they find that one woman they love, they love them fiercely, and very protective of them. And I love them for that. This was a very good story, with that said I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who enjoy reading a good story about giving love a second chance,it also had a bit of drama in a good way, not that crazy kind. I think you will enjoy reading all the stories on this family. Great job Niya thank you and please keep these stories coming.

Simone and Eden are a wonderful pair. This story had it all: good chemistry between Eden & Simone (both with strong personalities), a good plot, solid secondary characters and hot sex.The storyline was engaging and came to an expected conclusion without being trite and sappy. Very good!

So intense and on the edge reading. Eden nd Simone have a very very interesting relationship. Drama, hot, twists and unconditional love. First book by this author and can’t wait to read the next book. Great book. Must have in the library.

I'm not much of a reader with my busy life/work schedule, so this collection was great for my long rides to and from work. Pema is insightful and humorous, and I've learned a lot about myself and life through her teachings. I highly recommend this product.

A wonderful and insightful collection of teachings with humor and self examinations that encourage each of us to examine ourselves as well. Pema Chodron presents these teachings simply and honestly.

I tend to take in the pain of others. Pema gives me a way of taking in the pain of living by breathing out compassion, a healthy way of handling that pain. I listen to the six CDs in rotation during my commute. I have ordered more of her CDs. No matter if the lessons are basically the same, just listening to her centers me.If you are a religious person, please don't think that she is trying to convert you to Buddhism. She is just giving you a tool to get through the day. Nothing in her lessons contradicts any religion that believes in the practice of compassion.

Pema Chodron is my favorite person to listen to. She is wise, funny, honest and non-judgmental. Listening to her helps me be more accepting and peaceful. She has a wonderful, soothing voice and a gift for imparting knowledge and spirituality without being preachy.

Every CD in this set is excellent, and since they were taped on site at sessions in Cape Breton you feel like Pema is right there in the room with you. Pema's words along with her wonderfully soothing voice will truly heal the aches and pains of living. It's not just the simplicity but the honesty that makes owning everything Pema worthwhile. If I had known about her years ago, I would have lived differently, if not more easily. Now, because of Pema, there are no regrets, just today. This set is very good therapy.

I read a short book by Pema and decided I wanted to get to know her teachings a bit better. I decided on this collection of CD's because I thought it was fairly priced. I have listened to two of the CD's and have really enjoyed them. I felt the topics addressed some of the work I am doing right now on my own path and therefore felt this information supports my work. I think the topics would fortify anyones work no matter where they are on thier own path of self realization/yoga etc.....

This CD set is especially useful for anyone facing life-altering issues and need to redirect their lives. This set has been tremendoulsy helpful for me.

For students of palaeo and forensic anthropology, this book is an excellent field guide and reference. Although some of the terminologies and formulae are American-orientated, Bass has produced an excellent supplement to standard texts which makes identification of 'minor' skeletal parts a bit easier. It's a pity about the spiral binding which limits its life off the bookshelf. I ended up removing the covers which I covered in plastic book wrap and replaced within the wire spiral - hopefully this will entend its life.It would be useful if future editions could include stature regression formulae for a wider cross section of world geographic groups (broader than just America - we are not all the same!). It would also be useful to develop an indexed interactive CD version which could be loaded onto a laptop.Overall, an excellent resource.

Another excellent William Bass reference source for human osteology.

In the “Coda” section of “Adrenalized,” Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen makes some profound statements. I’m not talking profound statements for a guitarist in Def Leppard; I’m talking statements that would make philosophers think hard. After reading this book, I like Phil Collen even more than I did before. He’s a killer guitarist and an awesome songwriter who is always striving for more. At the same time, he also turns off light switches in his house to save money, doesn’t believe in stereotyping whatsoever, and doesn’t care much about celebrity. Like all of us, Collen is a mix of contradictions, talents, feelings, and flaws, and he seems to understand this.“Adrenalized” doesn’t begin as interestingly as it ends. Collen’s retelling of his childhood felt like a book report, an obligatory section to get out of the way before the more glamorous rock ‘n’ roll parts. In my view, he could have added an exciting adolescent story or two to spice things up. But the tale heats up quickly when the guitarist hooks up with Girl, his first notable band. Collen was wild in his early years, taking drugs and drinking with abandon. Unlike many rock stars, however, he doesn’t revel in this aspect of his life today, saying plainly in the book that he never intended to write about such debauchery when he was practicing it. Collen tells a few wild stories and offers more than enough background info to give readers the general idea: “Rock and roll is no safety net,” as Def Leppard themselves once conveyed on the great “High ‘n’ Dry” album.Reading about Collen’s relationship with the deceased Def Leppard guitarist Steve Clark, who was his best friend, is one of the coolest parts of “Adrenalized.” These guys were hardcore partiers, but they also had deep conversations and looked at life and music way beyond the constricted boundaries of a studio. For instance, at the start of Chapter 3, Collen talks about how he and Clark were awakened inside by the beauty and art of Paris, where they lived. One recurring theme from Collen in “Adrenalized” is on the dumbing down of society that is so prevalent, thanks to so many pointless distractions everywhere. Back in the 1980s, Clark and Collen observed this phenomenon for the first time in their lives and made efforts to enter into a “third dimension” of life to try to sidestep all its inanities. This may sound like a pretentious attitude, but I actually admire these guys for having such a mature outlook so young, when they were unattached rock stars who could have been completely self-indulgent.Of course, Collen has spent a great part of his life in the entertainment industry contributing to what some might say is the watering down of society. He knows this, which I think is partly why he spends the other half of his life living and thinking the way he does. My view is that Collen is way more authentic than most multimillionaire celebrities, but thankfully he’s not preachy or condescending about his cleaned-up lifestyle.Like many of these types of books, Collen’s life becomes a jet setting whirlwind after Def Leppard’s popularity hits its apex, a series of relationships, travels, kids, heartbreak, and joys. The writing is a bit scattered at times, moving from one topic to the next at breakneck speed. Collen mentions that the Leppard album “Slang” could have been enhanced with a bit more focus on the songs. I disagree because I think that album is perfect, but I would apply the same principle to his book: Collen could have put more work into his life story to make it really stand out. One huge disappointment is that he talks little about the personalities of his bandmates. What is his relationship like with Rick Savage, for instance? Who in the band does he hang out with most and why? Perhaps he was being a gentleman to avoid friction, but Def Leppard fans want to know this stuff.Ultimately, I’m a “microscopic pinpoint of existence in this universe,” as Collen describes himself in the last line of “Adrenalized.” Who am I to judge what he includes in his life story? Collen wrote a book, and it’s a darned interesting one that’s a bit different for a rock star. Maybe the next Def Leppard bio will dish on the entertainment side more to satisfy the masses, leaving the loftier stuff to Collen.

The impression I get from reading some of these reviews is that if you are a Def Leppard fan, you will love this book. I am a Def Leppard fan (admittedly the last new album of theirs I purchased was 'Euphoria' and have stayed far away from anything they've released since then, but still absolutely love them live in concert) and I am also a fan of rock and roll biographies. Phil is an interesting guy and, I think, a great guitar player. So it was a no-brainer that I ordered this book the moment it came out.The fact is this is painfully mediocre. No reflection on Phil, or Def Leppard. But as a rock and roll biography, it's mostly a waste of time. If you've read "Animal Instinct" by David Fricke, you won't need to read this. As other reviewers have noted it's short -- about 200 pages -- and pretty ho-hum in it's storytelling. Phil is not a writer, nor are his editors, apparently, as I lost track of how many times he punctuated a sentence with "all of a sudden" and "really" (as in "I really like that.")I loved hearing him admit that "Adrenalize" sounded dated the moment it was released, and other off-hand quotes. But there's nothing really revelatory in this book that couldn't be gleaned by online surfing. I was expecting more about his lifestyle -- his diet, his exercise regime, some intimate stuff like that. Honestly, just a chapter about his personal workout would have made sense in his book, as he has become almost as well known for his incredibly healthy lifestyle. But that's relegated to some pithy "why kill animals" mantra of veganism. (No disrespect intended, but he didn't sound very convincing about his lifestyle change.)The book came alive at the last chapter when he started asking the bigger questions and then, suddenly, just stopped. I finished the book wondering what I learned. I learned that he has had sex with a lot of women while being in relationships with other women. I learned that everyone agrees that he should write a book because he has an interesting life. I didn't learn a whole lot more.At the end of the day it's hard not to notice this book came out at the same time as Def Leppard's most recent album. It's hard not to be cynical and suppose he felt rushed to put out this product to coincide with the album. Bummer. I think it would have been a much better book had he spent more time on it.

Love Def Leppard too much, which is why this first bio from a band-member is so disappointing. Collen deserves credit for avoiding the tired old groupies, coke and band drama tropes of his fellow 80s rockers' books. But he missed out in sharing the meaningful anecdotes and new revelations that fans crave. There's minimal description of the artistic and technical details of the albums and songs. He zips through much of Def Lep's 30-year run offering few insights into what keeps the gang together and drives them to stay in the game. This is essentially a glammed up Wiki entry.

This is one of the driest biographies I have read. There is no passion or enthusiasm to most of the book. It reads like a list of events that were perfunctorily put together. There are no insights. After wasting your time with this book, fans won't know much more about Phil Collen or Def Leppard that they haven't read in magazines over the years.

Although I am a huge fan and know a good deal about the lovely Leps I was hoping for more fromPhil. It was an all around interesting read, but was left wanting the details to be more in-depth. I didn't need anydrama or juicy details but felt that Phil was holding back. Nonetheless I would recommend it for any Lep fan for a glimpse into Mr. Collen's life pre and post Hysteria!

I picked this up since I like reading autobiographies of members of my favourite bands. It's an interesting read but not entirely satisfying. Plus it left me with the impression that the guy comes across as surprisingly preachy about things considering how much of how much infidelity he got up to up until (it seems) he met his current wife.
