I bought this book for my son for his birthday. Turns out, the subject matter is not just about birthdays, but also manners. A bit over my two year old's head, but you can't start too early. It's not his favorite, but I liked the multicultural pictures of all the humans. It's not the best in the series, but we read it from time to time.

We love all the "how do dinosaurs" books. This was a gift for my three year olds birthday. We read it a few times before his party, and during his party we were able to reference the book to encourage good behavior.

My kids love dinosaurs so this book was a big hit before their dinosaur birthday party. It has excellent illustrations and describes how to have good manners at your birthday party. Board book is high quality. Highly recommend.

What a shock and disappointing!! This book uses the ‘she’ pronoun and styles the dinosaur as a girl. In addition, it refers to family in an antiquated way. No room for same sex couples, divorced, adoption, etc families. We did not want to read this to our grandson after previewing it! This book should come with warnings so people don’t waste the effort and money!!!

I bought this for my son's third birthday (which was dinosaur themed, as he loves dinosaurs). He loves it. It is a short cute book. Each picture had the name of the dinosaur pictured.

I purchased this book for my sons 1st birthday party. It was a dinosaur themed party so I just had to buy this. I have to say it was such a hit! We had kids ranging from 1 to 6 and they all loved when I read the story to them. (Side note, i'm a teacher). The pictures are fun and the story it self was wonderful. The book is also very durable which will help now that my 1 year old wants to bring this around the house with him.

If I had the chance to read this book prior to purchase I would not have purchased. Some parts don't make sense and others are very inappropriate!

LOVE THIS BOOK! We purchased as a guest book for our son's dinosaur themed birthday party, and it is perfect! The illustrations are fun for kids and the words are easy to read.

I love that they tell you the species of dinosaurs, but they aren't too accurately depicted, which could cause some confusion. As far as the story content, they seem to have a positive point. Act kind, be responsible, etc. Overall, these aren't for us.

Marty Noble never disappoints me. Well drawn and it looks like it's going to be another fun one! I was pleasantly surprised at this book.

Very nice. Good quality paper. Good variety of tapestries. Very fun to color. This is my first foray into adult coloring; I don't do any kind of visual art. I purchased this book along with 24 Prismacolor pencils. Brewed some tea, put on some classical music (Haydn) and am having a great time. Very relaxing. Have finished two very detailed pages and they look great. I'm eager to start on the next image. I recommend this book.

Terrible coloring book. I love medieval tapestries, hence my purchase of this book.But as a coloring book, it is terribly done. The artwork looks as if a tapestry were simply photocopied, the colors removed, and then presented as is in the book, without being altered in any way for coloring. This is a bit difficult to describe. There are tiny little details that are too small to color, odd run-on sections that can't really be colored, and a host of other problems. Sad, sad that the publishers did this to tapestries :-(

This is a fantastic coloring book, I LOVE these kinds of pictures with all the detail, dont really like the ones that are "cutesy" with flowers and fish and so on. So I love the intricate design and the complexity of the pictures.HOWEVER, I do have a big complaint and that is these amazing pictures and are printed on what I would call "ordinary" paper, and printed on both sides. I use Gel Pens mainly for this intricate work and gel pens go through the page so the picture on the other side becomes unusable. That is a HUGE disappointment.I have the Outlander and Game of Thrones coloring books and those are printed on a heavier stock paper and only printed on the one side. Makes a huge difference. So while I love the pictures I am not really happy with the paper quality...

This is another coloring book that is very detailed and good for adults. There is a lot of detail and story telling to go along with each picture. I like that the covers feature two fully colored images from within the book so as to show the colors that would have been typically used during medieval times in tapestries. The paper is very nice, the printing is well done. I used a mix of marker and colored pencils and this seemed to work well. The titles of each tapestry and dates are included with the pictures so that you could possibly google more information if so inclined to do so. I would recommend this to my adult friends who like to color.

Again another Dover coloring book that knocks it out of the park. Bought several of the companies products so that when the kids ask me to sit and color with them I am not coloring in Dora but something more adult oriented. Turns out the kids love the books as much as I do, especially since most of the books also contain a short paragraph about the picture, sometimes a history lesson depending on the book.

Omg, this one is incredibly challenging...so much so it could probably take several months (or years depending on how often you color) to do every design in it. Some of the tapestries are so intricately detailed I have to keep my pencils sharpened to a fine point just to stay inside the lines.Normally I don't like already inked in parts (fashions are a no no), but in this case, I'm actually grateful that a few of the design backgrounds are blackened in.All in all an excellent adult style coloring book that will keep you occupied for many, many, MANY hrs. It's a great value considering how much time and effort it takes to do each design.With informative dates and descriptions printed below each depiction, it's educational as well as fun.Get your pencil sharpener ready (you'll need it!) and enjoy!

This is definitely not your child's coloring book (or the coloring book you had as a child). From "Death on his Pale Horse" to "The Griffin Protects His Lady" there's something here for everyone, except maybe young children. It's a very detailed book. In fact if you have problems with your vision or hands -- you may want to pass. I have occasional hand troubles and will be skipping coloring in it on those days. It's also probably far too detailed for young children. Not to mention that death, unicorns in captivity, and Trojan war scenes may be a bit much for them (not that there's violence portrayed, there's not).You'll want to break out colored pencils or very fine tipped markers for most of these. There are some rare areas that are wide open, but for the most part these are highly detailed pieces that will test your coloring skills.An intro note in the book gives a brief history of tapestries and each page gives us the name / country of origin / year of the tapestry on the page we're coloring.A must for older kids who are too old for traditional coloring books and adults who love to color.

The pictures are gorgeous and intricate but you either have to use color pencils or make copies of the pages you want to color because you will get bleed through on the picture on the backside of the page using markers or pens. The pages are also thin and not preferated, so copying on inkjet is a bit complicated because you can't just pull the page out, and you also have to be very careful coloring copies with markers or the ink will run. I still think this is a beautiful book!

I ordered this book as part of my Marketing Management module in my MBA. It is a great read and offers a supportive insight into marketing related concepts; notwithstanding the associated cause and effect. I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in Marketing and/or as an accompanying source for those studying for their MBA.

I loved this book so much. I loved the way Yvon talks us through his own personal history, and walks us through the history of the company. The sweet anecdotes about creative problem solving (i.e. How do you get a retailer who is very behind on payments to settle up? Send their next order (of scrap metal) COD)) were my favorite parts. I also loved being able to read the mission statements, particularly the one the senior team member cobbled together over lunch while they were on a retreat in Patagonia. I loved the way the book was written in conversational English. And I loved the excerpts from ads and the excerpts from that Alpine Climber's magazine. Such beautiful writing!One note to Yvon/Patagonia suppliers: The commercial wool industry is BRUTAL. I like that you're selling recycled wool sweaters, and would love to see you totally abandon any partnerships with commercial wool farmers. In order to sheer sheep at a rate that's profitable (most get paid per sheep rather than by the hour) they have to hurry through the sheering process. That means lots of cuts for the sheep. Plus there are some types of sheep that are prone to parasites in the folds of their rear. In order to combat that, farmers simply slice off a chunk of that area so there are no longer folds. OUCH. Again, commercial wool farmers, BAD.Sorry, I got off on a tangent. I loved this book. It held my attention all the way through. I had trouble putting it down, actually. Yvon's voice is very sweet and actually has inspired me to ask myself, am I doing all I can for the environment? AND am I working at a job/in an industry that I'm proud of? Could I be doing something more fulfilling (for my own quality of life, and the environment?).

While I agree with the vast majority of the environmental postures of the author I find his position as an owner of a for profit B Corp on a global scale hypocrisy. While he touts a 1% sin tax to compensate for the ecological damage his firm promotes their continued mass production and globalist policies are much the same as “non-environmentalist” practices. There are some golden nuggets of truth with regard to employee practices - ie don’t work for a firm you don’t believe in, childcare local to the parent, and showers in the offices. But I have a really tough time believing a guy who writes that he hates the corporate culture but leads a large corporation. His thinking that he is somehow “different” is a symptom of the entitlement driving many of the really bad business decisions made by people who came of age in the late 1960s. The dichotomy is obvious to external observers but denied by the observed. I think the eco friendly posturing is just marketing to get “the dirtbag” (author’s words) to keep being the core of his customer base.

If not for its literary eloquence or sophistication, this is a precious read for the sobering lessons on environmentalism that too many of us can use more reminders on. Personally I find the arguments for minimalism and simplicity helpful, and they tie in perfectly with the overall tones of the book - living responsibly both as individuals and as a society. Every choice we make as a consumer has a consequence that's not necessarily reflected by its price tag, and it's something we should all be aware of. Thanks Yvon for sharing your wisdom!

A solid book. Yvon Chouinard has a unique perspective on the world and company building. There is a lot of admire about his philosophies. I do wish there were many more companies in the world as mission driven as Patagonia. But, this ends up not really being a business book nor really as into the culture of Patagonia as I'd hope. It ends up sort of being a biography with more details on the company's activism.

Insomuch as this is a memoir and not a business management book, it's fantastic! The first part is pretty much all about the Yvon's early life (which makes me feel like less of a man lol), the history of Chouinard Equipment (future Black Diamond) and Patagonia, and the history of a few of it's offshoot sister companies. The 2nd part of the book describes various philosophies that Patagonia tries to employ in it's practices and dealings.I found this history particularly interesting, especially given that Yvon had absolutely no business background, and throughout the book is very upfront on this fact. Describing the (sometimes comical) struggles he encountered, restructures needed and addressed, and culture developed, was very enjoyable.Insomuch as the philosophies section is concerned, if you're familiar at all with Patagonia and it's dealings this will be pretty straightforward to you. I did enjoy the HR/benefits section, and was intrigued about Chouinard's take on innovation (borrowing, stealing, repurposing ideas ='s fast and effective) vs. invention (can be great, but takes time, is unpredictable, and doesn't guarantee value added vs. just cool). I think it was telling though that by far the longest section of this book in this section is the Environmental Philosophies section. Everyone who knows Patagonia knows this is important to them, and I thought it was telling of them to give it so much space in his book. Some of the figures - if somewhat outdated - are interesting (and scary).If you're looking for a 'how to do business [like Patagonia]' rule by rule book, this probably wouldn't be the best starting point. For that, maybe try Yvon's other book, The Responsible Company. However, if you accept that this is a memoir about a man and the development of a company that cares deeply about it's value and understands the struggles therein, this book is great!
